Get access to the National Financial Ombud

Introducing an exciting new initiative from the National Financial Ombud.
Beginning March 2026, the National Financial Ombud will have a monthly satellite office presence at the Stellenbosch University Law Clinic.
The NFO team members who staff this satellite office will provide information on the rights of financial services consumers, and how to lodge a complaint with the National Financial Ombud in case of an unresolved issue with a bank, insurer or credit provider, or in cases where these service providers may have acted unfairly, may have made a mistake.
This monthly presence will give you easier access to the services offered by the National Financial Ombud.
Visit the National Financial Ombud satellite office at the Stellenbosch University Law Clinic, 18 – 24 Crozier Street, Stellenbosch for free and confidential advice on your complaint. We’ll soon be sharing the confirmed dates that NFO team members will be in attendance, or you can reach out to the National Financial Ombud using the contact details below.
What does the National Financial Ombud do?
The National Financial Ombud provides fair and impartial dispute resolution services for financial services customers in South Africa. They are completely independent and decide each case on the facts. All their services are entirely free of charge.
The National Financial Ombud can help you get closure on long-running complaints and may even be able to assist you with recovering lost funds. It also provides fraud prevention and financial literacy services.
The National Financial Ombud is committed to fulfilling its training and educational mandate under its Corporate Social Responsibility pillar, and to upholding financial fairness.
This new initiative is available to all financial services consumers, not just those who are affiliated with the University. It is intended to make National Financial Ombud services more accessible and transparent. It will also increase consumers’ awareness of their rights and responsibilities and of the Ombud services that are freely available to them.
