Law Clinic recipient of NIFTEP Fellowship

The Clinic’s Stephan van der Merwe has been invited to attend the Fall 2018 workshop of the National Institute for Teaching Ethics & Professionalism (NIFTEP) as a fellow. NIFTEP is a consortium of six universities in the USA that have centers on legal ethics and the legal profession. Its Director and Deputy Director are based at the Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta. NIFTEP has been conducting workshops and conferences on teaching ethics and professionalism since 2005, including international workshops held in Banff, Canada, in 2012, and in London, in 2014. The Fall 2018 workshop will be held in Melbourne, Australia from 4 – 6 December 2018, and include presentations and demonstrations on innovative and effective methods for teaching legal ethics. It will also provide hands-on training in the use of the world’s most comprehensive web-based resource for teaching legal ethics: www.teachinglegalethics.org. Stephan will also participate in the International Legal Ethics Conference VIII in Melbourne, from 6 – 8 December 2018.
